Backstory
As my son and I were walking along the road in one of our favorite local parks we met this very interesting gentleman. Approaching to ask if it was okay to photograph him led to an hour-long conversation full of stories of his view's on life, words of wisdom, and music. Even though he had been down a rough path in life, his upbeat attitude was amazing. I feel fortunate that I came away from the experience not only with photographs I was happy with, but also with a bit of inspiration.

Backstory
I traveled to Burma last December for two weeks with 6 other photographers. Our aim was to photograph the people and the landscape in this mysterious country. This little lady was a member of an open-air school with simple dirt floors. We stopped here briefly to photograph the children. The school is attached to a monastery that is supervised by monks. In exchange for being permitted to photograph the school, the monastery and school children we offered boxes of paper, pencils, school supplies all of which were very much in need and cost us next to nothing.
The children were active, wild, shy, full of fun, etc. I found this young girl to be absolutely stunning and also extremely shy. I worked with her on and off for about 15 minutes. She required a very soft spoken and gentle approach in order to put her at ease. She did not speak any English and I do not speak Burmese. It occurred to me as I started taking her photo that all I really needed to do was to be in the present moment with her... As we continued to work together I realized that I wanted my images to convey the wisdom and timeless spirit she was radiating so beautifully.
I felt like I had been given an amazing gift when we ended our little informal shooting session together. She was so present with me!
